FargoDome | Video Boards

NDSU and MJBA have had a long and productive history dating back nearly our entire history. If you’ve ever seen a Bison game at the Fargodorm, you’ve likely seen our work without realizing it. In 2015, NDSU wished to upgrade its video control room and the screens above the field and along the concourse. MJBA was contracted to give an analysis and then retained to design and complete the project.

MJBA worked alongside WJHW of Dallas, TX, to provide an analysis of the FargoDome’s existing video boards and control room capabilities.  Following month-long periodic event observations and conversations with staff, recommendations were determined, reviewed with the staff for comment, and then given to the FargoDome Board. Included within this review was a projected cost estimate for partial and complete upgrades with state-of-the-art equipment.  The Board elected to retain our Team to provide full design services for the complete upgrade of the boards and equipment. Conversations with several video board manufacturers were included during the project's design to assess the available options for equipment quality and relevant costs.  This information was again shared with the Board before issuing the bidding documents.  During this process, the client decided to add a new and larger home for the video control room within the upper portion of the two-story concourse.  To provide universal accessibility to the new control room, the aging existing freight elevator was upgraded with new equipment, and the shaft was extended. The space was also enlarged and made more accessible. Not only was the project a success, but it also came in just shy of two million dollars under budget.
